English section – Church of Sant’Apollinare in Castel Raniero

The church documents testify to its existence since 1261. The building has undergone great changes over the centuries, particularly in 1907 when the church was almost completely demolished and then rebuilt in its current form. The church is dedicated to Sant’Apollinare, proto-bishop of Ravenna, probably because until 1348 the territory of Castel Raniero was a possession of the monastery of Sant’Andrea di Ravenna.
